The Commandments which Moses was to pass on to the Jewish people,
can be divided into groups in different ways:
A1 The written commandments
A2 The oral commandments.
B1 The commandments associated with the worship of G'd.
B2 and the commandments, which govern all relationships between people.
C1 The commandments, which everyone can apply and
C2 the commandments, which are especially meant for the temple services,
to be carried out by the Levites, the priestly tribe.
D1 The commandments adopted by Christianity.
D2 The commandments, which are fundamentally changed or denied in Christianity.
D3 The commandments that Islam has adopted.
D4 The commandments, which are fundamentally changed or denied in Islam.
D5 The commandments, which have taken over in European laws.
D6 The commandments, which have been fundamentally amended in Dutch and European law or denied.
D7 The commandments, which Europe has adopted as general standards of decency.
D8 The commandments, which Europe has adopted in amended form as general norms of decency.
D9 The specifically Jewish rules.
E The commandments logically ordered by subject.
The Jewish scholars, rabbis, usually speak of ' do's and don'ts '.
For example, they call "You shall not kill" a prohibition.
To my taste, this is a commandment. But that's just a linguistic problem.
